WHAT WE STAND FOR
Lighthouse Reports is an international investigative nonprofit newsroom.
We believe investigative journalism helps people navigate complexity, so we create spaces to make this happen.
Our editorial independence is essential to all aspects of the work we do.
We follow the journalism code of practice as set out by The Fourth Estate.
It recognises three core principles that are fundamental to the ethical practice of journalism:
— Reporting the truth
— Ensuring transparency
— Serving the community
We strongly believe in the importance of accuracy, independence, impartiality, integrity, harm minimisation, engagement and accountability in serving the public interest.
Lighthouse leads complex transnational investigations blending traditional journalistic methods such as freedom of information requests with emerging techniques like open source intelligence and specialisms like data science.
We offer a collaborative space where hyper-local outlets and freelance journalists can work alongside staff from globally-recognised media. We exist to foster experiments with new formats and we pay particular attention to fresh ways of framing complex issues that will capture public attention and challenge misconceptions.
