Julia Steers

Julia Steers is a multi-Emmy Award-winning reporter and documentary filmmaker. Previously the Africa Bureau Chief and a Senior Correspondent for VICE News, she has covered stories across sub Saharan Africa for a decade. Prior to joining VICE, she worked in print and television news, including for The Wall Street Journal, CNN, France24, Foreign Policy and others. She began her career in New York at The Huffington Post and CBS News. Julia’s reporting focuses on conflict, politics, and human rights with an emphasis on undercovered and inaccessible conflicts. Her film on Russia’s notorious Wagner Group was awarded a George Polk Award for TV reporting and a 2024 Emmy Award.
